Take a look at your patio or sidewalk or even your driveway. All looks like some gray concrete out there right? And you’re not wrong, but that gray concrete still comes in all sorts of finishes.

The most common finish of concrete is a troweled finish. This makes the concrete smooth with no lumps or bumps in it. You’ll see this most often on your patio, walkway or porch! The second most common would be a brushed finish. This finish is often seen on driveways. It is accomplished by taking a broom over the top of a troweled area of concrete before it is fully cured. This gives the concrete some texture and grip. Another common finish to concrete is exposed aggregate. This is when the concrete looks lumpy or has a lot of rocks on the surface. Over time some troweled concrete can begin to look more like aggregate as the top layer of the concrete chips away. Aggregate is rough to the touch but does give plenty of grip!

Different types of concrete finishes mean each repair is going to look a little bit different. Depending on the finish, the age and color of your concrete the repair done could vary. Don’t fret, the repair will always keep your concrete looking good and lasting longer. Best of all, at a fraction of the price of replacement!
